Biographical Information[edit]

Jae-jung Jang played in the Korea Baseball Organization for 11 years.

Jang was signed by the Ssangbangwool Raiders in 1994, and he spent his first four seasons in the minor league; he only got 48 at-bats combined with the big club. When Kyung-oan Park left the team, Jang was named the starting catcher in in 1998, and his batting line was .237/.279/.303 in 97 games. He then hit .211/.263/.292 in 1999, and the Raiders were disbanded. The SK Wyverns were founded, and Jang hit .245/.296/.321 in 94 games for them in 2000. He was then traded with Hyun-seung Yoo to the LG Twins for Jae-man Ahn. Jang hit .194/.260/.267 in 2001, then his batting line was .222/.282/.315 in 2002. He only played 57 games with a .179/.217/.268 batting line in 2003, then he announced his retirement. Jang was the battery coach for the Twins from 2004 to 2005, for the Wyverns in 2006, for the KIA Tigers from 2008 to 2011, for the KT Wiz from 2014 to 2015 and for the Lotte Giants from 2016 to 2018. Jang returned to the Wyverns in 2019, and he was named the battery coach of the Wiz in 2022. He also coached the South Korea national team in the 2012 Asian Championship.

Overall, Jang hit .219/.272/.297 with 264 hits and 14 homers in 11 seasons in the KBO.
