Biographical Information[edit]

Jack Schulte played both games of a doubleheader on August 19, 1906 for the Boston Beaneaters against the Cincinnati Reds. Sporting Life explained the circumstances as follows:

" . . . Both teams were compelled to call on local amateur talent to assist them in the doubleheader because of injuries to shortstops Corcoran and Bridwell and the absence of Manager Tenney." - September 1, 1906 issue

Jack Schulte was born in Cincinnati, OH, so he was in the right place at the right time. As for the replacement of shortstop Tommy Corcoran of the Reds, Jim Delahanty moved over from third base that day, and the young Eddie Tiemeyer made his major league debut. Eddie went on to play a total of 9 major league games.
