Jack Leggett played for the University of Maine in the 1976 College World Series and also was a member of the school's football team. He was head baseball coach at the University of Vermont from 1978 to 1982 and at Western Carolina University from 1983 to 1991. After two seasons as an assistant at Clemson University, he took over as the team's head coach in 1994. In 22 seasons at Clemson, he took the team to the College World Series six times while compiling a record of 955–480–1. He was fired after the 2015 season.
