Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Ivan Murrell began his career with the Houston Colt .45s before being selected by the San Diego Padres in the 1968 expansion draft and playing parts of five seasons with the club. His best year came in 1970, when he hit 12 homers in 125 games. After his playing career ended, he was a scout and a minor league coach, including the 1981 Lynchburg Mets.

In 1989, Murrell played for the St. Lucie Legends of the Senior Professional Baseball Association. He hit .272 with 5 homers in 47 games.

His main teammates were Nate Colbert, Cito Gaston, Ollie Brown and Clay Kirby.
