Biographical Information

Isauro Pineda has pitched over 250 games in the minors.

Pineda was signed by the Boston Red Sox in April 1997. He was 4-5 with a 1.86 ERA and .185 opponent average for the 1997 DSL Red Sox. In 1998, he pitched for the GCL Red Sox (7 R in 13 1/3 IP) and Sarasota Red Sox (4-2, 5.23). He split 1999 between the Augusta Greenjackets (2-1, 3.38 in 8 G) and Sarasota (2-1, 5.23 in 11 G). The next year, he was with the GCL Red Sox (0-1, 4.20 in 4 G) and Sarasota (1-1, 3.57 in 7 G). Loaned out to the Monterrey Sultans, he had a 5-2, 3.40 record and one save in 2001.

Back in the US with the 2002 Trenton Thunder, the 23-year-old went 9-13 with a 5.65 ERA. He was among the Eastern League leaders in losses (tied for first with Brent Cook, John Grabow, Mike Paradis and Clint Smith), starts (28, tied for first with Cook), innings (156, 7th, between Brent Hoard and Justin Reid), hits allowed (172, 6th, between Paradis and Smith), runs allowed (109, 2nd, 14 behind Nate Tekavec), earned runs (98, 2nd, 13 behind Tekavec), homers (20, 4th, between Reid and Smith), walks (68, tied for 4th with Ryan Mills) and strikeouts (121, tied for 8th with Seung Song). In the Red Sox chain, he tied for first in wins (with Shane Rhodes and Alex Solano), was second in losses (one behind Mat Thompson), tied Don Wengert for first in starts, was second to Wengert in innings and hits allowed, was first in runs allowed (11 ahead of Anastacio Martinez), was first in earned runs (13 more than Wengert), tied Juan Pena for first with 20 homers allowed, was second in walks (7 behind Martinez) and tied Song for 4th in whiffs.

After missing 2003 due to injury, he signed with the Atlanta Braves as a minor league free agent. He went 5-7 with fives and a 4.60 ERA for the Greenville Drive. He moved on to Mexico in 2005 and was 6-7 with a 5.62 ERA for Monterrey, walking 64 in 96 IP. He tied Luis Rivera for second in the Mexican League in walks, one behind Hugo Castellanos. He saw little action with the 2006 Sultanes (2-0, 3.08 in 11 G) then went 2-3 with a 4.14 ERA for them in 2007. In the 2008 Caribbean Series, he pitched for the Yaquis de Obregón. He served up Miguel Tejada's 12th career Caribbean Series homer, as Tejada passed Tony Armas Jr. as the all-time leader. It was his only game of the Series and not a productive one (8 H, 4 R in 3 1/3 IP).

That summer, Isauro was 0-1 with a 3.45 ERA in 15 relief outings for Monterrey; he was down to six games (1-0, 3.97) in 2009 then was out of the Mexican League in 2010-2011. He returned in 2012 with the Leones de Yucatán, going 4-1 with a 3.69 ERA in 27 games. He was 0-1 with a 3.20 ERA in 11 games for the '13 Leones.
