Biographical Information[edit]

Brent Hoard pitched in the Minnesota Twins system from 1998 to 2003 and in independent ball in 2005; he was injured in 2004. He was originally taken by the club in the 3rd round of the 1998 amateur draft, a few picks ahead of Barry Zito.

He had a few seasons of note. The first was in 1999, when he went 12-7 with a 3.43 ERA in 28 starts for the Quad Cities River Bandits. After a down year in 2001, he went 8-4 with a 3.13 ERA in 18 games (16 starts) between two clubs. Then in 2002, he went 11-8 with a 3.69 ERA in 31 games (26 starts) for the New Britain Rock Cats. In 2003, he reached Triple-A for the first and only time, going 3-5, 5.35 in 13 games (12 starts) there.

Overall, he went 43-38 with a 3.97 ERA in 136 games (113 starts). In 634 innings, he allowed 645 hits and 246 walks, while striking out 488 batters.
