Biographical Information[edit]
Ibrahim McKenzie has played in the minors and for the Panamanian national team.
Signed by Atlanta Braves scout Luis Ortiz in January 2011 [1], he hit .188/.336/.304 with 62 strikeouts in 191 at-bats for the DSL Braves that summer, fielding .985 at 1B. Back in the same role the next year, he improved his batting line to .257/.346/.403 with 6 homers in 61 games, while fielding .979. He hit .212/.274/.288 for the 2013 GCL Braves in his lone summer in the US minors.
McKenzie was with Panama for the 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games, going 1 for 7; he mostly played DH but saw a little action at 3B and CF, with no chances handled. [2] In the 2017 Central American Games, he hit cleanup for Panama but batted only .111; he did post a .429 OBP though with 7 walks and 3 times plunked in 6 games, plus one of his two hits was a triple. He had one steal, 3 RBI and 7 runs. He tied Ismael Munguía, Edgar Muñoz and Fabián Vizcaíno for second in runs in the round-robin phase (7, one behind Gerald Chin) and was second in walks (2 behind Jose Medina). In the Gold Medal Game, he was 1 for 4 with a triple in a 3-1 loss to host Nicaragua. [3]
