Ismael Munguía has played in the minors and for the Nicaraguan national team.
Munguía was signed by the San Francisco Giants in 2015. He hit .274/.359/.363 for the 2016 DSL Giants while playing all three outfield slots. In 2017, he came stateside and batted .331/.398/.458 and scored 31 runs in 42 games for the AZL Giants. He was 5th in the Arizona League in batting average (between Ryan Costello and Justin Jacobs). He then represented Nicaragua in the 2017 Central American Games. The teenager led off for the hosts, hitting .278/.409/.389 with 7 runs and 5 RBI in five games in the round-robin phase; he scored both runs in their 2-1 win over rival Panama. He tied Fabián Vizcaíno, Edgar Muñoz and one other player for second in runs, one behind Gerald Chin. In the Gold Medal Game, he was 2 for 4 with a run in a 3-1 win, the only Nicaraguan player to manage multiple hits against the pitching of Davis Romero.
