Biographical Information[edit]
Hyun-seok Jang has pitched in the minor leagues and for the South Korean national team.
Jang was signed by the Los Angeles Dodgers on August 9, 2023 with a $900K signing bonus. He then represented South Korea in the 2022 Asian Games (held in '23 due to delays from COVID-19). Jang pitched a shutout inning with two strikeouts against Hong Kong, then he relieved Woo-young Jung in the 8th inning against China. He gave up a single to Jin Yang, then retired Pei Liang and Nan Du. Yun Lu then got a hit, and left fielder Seong-yoon Kim couldn't deal with the ball properly, so China scored their only run of the game. Jang then struck out Shuai Wang to end his work in the event. South Korea beat Chinese Taipei in the Gold Medal Game; that exempted him from military service.
