Biographical Information[edit]

Hua-Wei Lo pitched in the Taiwanese national team and the CPBL.

Lo was signed by Detroit Tigers scouts Allen Lin and Kevin Hooker in 2009, but he then underwent Tommy John surgery and missed the entire 2010 and 2011 seasons. He was 2-4 with a 3.21 ERA with the A- Connecticut Tigers in 2011. After that season, Lo request the Tigers to release him, and he decided to came back to his homeland and pitched in the CPBL. Lo represented Taiwan in the 2013 East Asian Games (winning Bronze) and 2014 Haarlemse Honkbalweek. The EDA Rhinos drafted Lo in the fifth round of the 2015 CPBL draft. Lo struggled in 2016, recorded a 6.33 ERA in 42 2/3 innings pitched. He spent most of the 2017 season in the minors, having a 4.00 ERA with 27 innings pitched, and collected league-leading 10 holds. However, he allowed 19 runs in just 8 innings in the major league. Lo still remained terrible with the Fubon Guardians, as he allowed 21 runs in just 12 1/3 innings combined in next two years.

The Wei Chuan Dragons picked Lo in the expansion draft in 2020, and this saved Lo's career. He pitched 36 innings with a 3.75 ERA in the minors in 2020 for the Dragons. Lo brought his good condition to the majors in 2021, when he recorded a 2.48 ERA and pitched 29 innings. He and Yu-Pu Wang was the main left-handed relievers for the Dragons in 2022. He notched 6 holds and a save with a 2.89 ERA in 39 relief outings.

Lo's repertoire includes a fastball (peak 93 mph), slider and changeup.
