Biographical Information

Hsin-Chang Lin was a player and manager in Taiwan.

Lin played for the Taiwan national team in the 1962 Asian Championship, 1963 Asian Championship and 1965 Asian Championship as an infielder; they won the Bronze Medal each time. He coached for a few Taiwanese amateur teams, including both the Army and Navy teams (he had played for Navy). He coached for Taiwan in the 1972 Little League World Series (which they won), the 1987 Asian Championship (which they won), the 1987 Intercontinental Cup (a Bronze Medal), 1988 Baseball World Cup and 1988 Olympics. He also managed Taiwan in the 1989 World Port Tournament.

When the Chinese Professional Baseball League was formed, he managed the Mercuries Tigers, going 47-38-5 in 1990 and losing the 1990 Taiwan Series. He was a sportswriter for the United Daily News for a spell. He managed the Chinese national team in the 1993 Asian Championship. In 1997, he took over the China Times Eagles after they lost most of their players due to a gambling scandal, going 11-35-2 in the second half. As they had won the first half, though, he led the team in the 1997 Taiwan Series. They stunningly topped the Wei Chuan Dragons the first two games before dropping the last four. He made the Taiwan Baseball Hall of Fame in 2018.
