Hloniphani Ngulube closed out Zimbabwe's win in the opener of the 2019 Africa Cup Baseball Championship against Burkina Faso, relieving Cliff Vint. Zimbabwe finished third. He also backed up in right field, going 2 for 4 with a walk and 4 runs. He pitched in four of their five games, with a 6.30 ERA; in 10 IP, he allowed 23 hits, 4 walks and 19 runs (7 earned) while fanning four. He had the best ERA of any of Zimbabwe's qualifiers and was 3rd in the event among qualifiers (behind Jared Elario and Robert Lewis-Walker). He led the event in games pitched, was 3rd in IP (behind Hamidou Kafando and Vint), allowed the second-most hits (one behind Kafando) and was 3rd in runs allowed (after Kafando and Aziz Bonkoungou).
