Biographical Information[edit]

Second baseman Harry Ornest played for the Class-B Tacoma Tigers in 1942 (13 for 62, 2 2B, HR, .912 FLD in 20 G) and the Class-A Albany Senators in 1945. He umpired in the West Texas-New Mexico League in 1947 and the Western International League in 1948. He was also a referee in the National Hockey League, founded the Vancouver Canadians, owned the NHL team the St. Louis Blues from 1983 to 1986 and the Canadian Football League team the Toronto Argonauts from 1998 to 1991.

His sons, Maury Ornest and Michael Ornest, played in the minor leagues as well.

He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II.
