Biographical Information[edit]

Third baseman Mike Ornest was taken by the Baltimore Orioles in the 11th round of the 1975 amateur draft, the same round as future Hall of Famer Andre Dawson, and began his professional career that year. He played through 1977, peaking at Low-A. In his final campaign, he hit .253/.338/.495 with 11 home runs and 34 RBI in 58 games for the Grays Harbor Loggers; he hit .253.339/.431 with 14 home runs and 67 RBI in 125 games overall.

His father, Harry Ornest, played in the minors in the 1940s and became a minor league owner. His brother, Maury Ornest, played in the minor leagues in the 1980s.
