Biographical Information

Harold Eckert pitched nine seasons in the minor leagues, spending several years in AAA.

Undrafted out of college, Eckert signed with the New York Mets as a free agent. He was dominant with the Kingsport Mets (1-0, 2.25) and Brooklyn Cyclones (9-1, 3.34, 21 BB, 75 K, 51 H in 70 IP). He tied Ross Peeples for the New York-Penn League lead in victories.

In 2002, the right-hander was 13-7 with a save and a 3.88 ERA with 149 strikeouts in 139 1/3 IP for the Capital City Bombers. He tied for third in the South Atlantic League in wins and tied for fourth in strikeouts. Eckert was 7-3 with a 2.93 ERA for the 2003 St. Lucie Mets.

Shortly before the 2004 season began, New York dealt Eckert to the Los Angeles Dodgers for Mike Collins and Dave Detienne. He split '04 between the Jacksonville Suns (2-0, 2.65, 22 K in 17 IP) and Las Vegas 51s (4-3, 6.35 in his AAA debut).

Eckert was with Las Vegas for all of 2005 but struggled again with a 5-10, 6.38 record with one save. 2006 was no better as he was 5-10 with a 7.49 ERA for the 51s with 162 hits in 119 innings. After a rocky start to 2007 (0-2, 6.38, 2.21 WHIP), Los Angeles let Eckert go.

He signed with the Newark Bears for the remainder of 2007 and did a fine job, going 5-0 with a 2.59 ERA and 71 K in 59 innings. He went south in 2008 to pitch for two Mexican League teams with a combined mark of 6-6, 3.45. In 2009, he toiled for the Mexico City Red Devils (1-1, 7.92) and Reynosa Broncos (6-7, 4.04).

In his 9 seasons in the minors, Eckert was now 64-50 with a 4.82 ERA and 859 K in 945 innings.

For 2010, Eckert signed with Telemarket Rimini in Italy. Due to family reasons, he was unable to play in Italy and was replaced on the roster by former major leaguer Jim Brower.
