Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Hans Crouse was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the second round of the 2017 amateur draft after an outstanding career at Dana Hills High School. He was a member of the United States junior national baseball team, and faced Cuba in the gold medal game of the COPABE Pan-American Baseball Championships in 2016, recording 11 strikeouts over 7 scoreless innings. He was signed by scout Steve Flores, foregoing a commitment to attend the University of Southern California.
On July 30, 2021, he was involved in a major trade with the Philadelphia Phillies that sent him, All-Star Kyle Gibson and closer Ian Kennedy to the City of Brotherly Love in return for three prospects (Spencer Howard, Josh Gessner and Kevin Gowdy). He made his major league debut at the tail end of that season, on September 26th, starting against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Citizens Bank Park. He allowed 1 run in 3 innings, but it was enough to be charged with his team's 6-0 loss.
His brother Marrick Crouse has pitched in the minors.
