Biographical Information[edit]
Spencer Howard was considered the top pitching prospect in the Philadelphia Phillies organization when he made his major league debut on August 9, 2020. He had been a 2nd-round selection by the Phils in the 2017 amateur draft, 45th overall. He was signed by scout Shane Bowers. He started against the Atlanta Braves that day, giving up 4 runs in 4 2/3 innings to be saddled with an 8-0 loss.
He was traded to the Texas Rangers on July 30, 2021 in the deal that sent veteran pitchers Kyle Gibson and Ian Kennedy to the Phillies.
