Woodman had a 1.37 ERA in 13 appearances for the GCL Twins in 1993; he allowed only 14 hits in 26 1/3 IP but walked 23 and does not appear to have played from 1994-1997. After going 5-5 with a 4.91 ERA for the independent Springfield Capitals in 1998, the Texas Rangers signed him. He was 2-2 with a 4.11 ERA for the Port Charlotte Rangers in 1999, and he also recorded a 5.46 ERA in 6 starts (0-4) with the Tulsa Drillers. He struggled again in 2000 as he went 5-6 with a 5.76 ERA, then the Rangers released him.

The Schaumburg Flyers then signed him, and Woodman pitched them for 4 seasons. He was 4-6 with a 4.63 ERA in 2001, then he had a 6-5 record with a 3.97 ERA in 2002. He improved to 11-5 with a 3.13 ERA in 2003, leading the Northern League with 126 strikeouts and ranking 3rd in wins (tied with Joey Cramblitt). He pitched for the USA in the 2003 Baseball World Cup, going 1-0 with a 0.82 ERA, beating Carlos Yamada of Brazil. He struck out 10 that day, becoming the third Team USA hurler to fan double-digit batters in a Baseball World Cup game, following Burt Hooton (11) and Ben McDonald (10). [1]

Woodman was 6-6 with a 1.95 ERA in 2004, and the Brother Elephants of Taiwan signed him. He was 5-4 with a 3.63 ERA, but he was fired due to breaching the team’s code of conduct. Woodman was 5-4 with a 4.82 ERA for the St. Paul Saints after leaving Taiwan, and he went 5-4 with a 4.66 ERA for the Kansas City T-Bones in 2006. He was 55-55 with 8 saves and a 3.89 ERA in 198 games as a pro (140 starts).
