Héroes del 41
The Héroes del 41 refers to the Venezuelan national team that won the 1941 Amateur World Series. This was the first Venezuelan squad to win an international tournament. The team consisted of Juan Francisco "Gatico" Hernández, Domingo Barboza, Ramón "Dumbo" Fernández, Felipe Gómez, Benhamín Chirinos, Daniel "Chino" Canónico, Pedro Nelson, Luis Romero Petit, tournament MVP José Casanova, Dalmiro Finol, José Pérez Colmenares, Enrique Fonseca, Atilano Malpica, Jesús "Chucho" Ramos, Héctor Benítez, Julio Bracho, Francisco "Tarzán" Contreras and Guillermo Vento. As a unit, the team was enshrined in the Salón de la Fama del Béisbol Venezolano in 2006; Casanova had won individual enshrinement previously and Benítez, Finol and Ramos had followed by 2012.
