Domingo Barboza was one of the Héroes del 41, the Venezuelan national team that won the 1941 Amateur World Series. He played for the Navegantes del Magallanes when the Venezuelan Winter League began play in 1946, going 1-3 with a 5.76 ERA. In the 1946-1947 season, he had a 5.19 ERA in four games. The next year, he was 0-2 with a 4.15 ERA. For the 1948-1949 Magallanes, he was 3-3 with a 4.62 ERA.

In the first Caribbean Series, in 1949, he reinforced Cervecería Caracas. He tied Julio Bracho for the most games pitched (3) on the team but was 0-1, allowing 16 hits in 9 2/3 IP. He fell to 0-1, 9.98 in 1949-1950. He had a 3.00 ERA in one game in 1951-1952 and a 9.00 ERA in one inning in 1952-1953. Overall, he had gone 4-9 with a 5.50 ERA in 45 games in the Venezuelan League and hit .232/~/.263.
