Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Greg McMichael played eight seasons in the majors, most notably with the Atlanta Braves.
Selected by the Cleveland Indians in the seventh round of the 1988 amateur draft, McMichael played three seasons in their organization, reaching the AAA level, before being released. He then signed with the Braves and spent two years playing in their minor league system. He reached the majors with Atlanta in 1993, appearing in 74 games for the club. He recorded 19 saves, posted a 2.06 ERA, and finished second in National League Rookie of the Year voting behind Mike Piazza. As the Braves' primary closer the following year, he saved 21 games. He notched a save for Atlanta in Game 1 of the 1995 NLCS and he made three appearances in the 1995 World Series, which the Braves won in six games over the Cleveland Indians.
