Biographical Information[edit]

Greg Erardi pitched five games for the Seattle Mariners in September of 1977, in the first season of the Mariners' existence. He went 0-1 with an ERA of 6.00 while pitching 9 innings.

His minor league career ran from 1972 to 1977. He was a starter in 1972 and then converted to a reliever. He was originally drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 24th round of the 1972 amateur draft, then was traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates in return for fellow pitcher Lafayette Currence in September of 1973. The Brewers signed him again as a free agent in June of 1975, then he was the final selection by the Mariners in the 1977 expansion draft. He had spent the 1976 season in the AA Eastern League with the Berkshire Brewers, going 8-4, 3.26, but because the mariners did not yet have a AA affiliate in 1977, he was loaned to the Brewers and to the New York Yankees in order to be able to pitch at the level, after putting an ERA of 28.50 in 7 games for the AAA Spokane Indians. He thus spent the bulk of that year with the Holyoke Millers and West Haven Yankees, going a combined 8-8, before his September call-up to Seattle.
