Biographical Information[edit]

George Fiall is the brother of Tom Fiall. Known for his basketball stardom, George was a light-hitting shortstop in the Negro Leagues known for his range.

Fiall debuted with the 1918 New York Lincoln Giants. By 1922, he was the starter. He moved to the Harrisburg Giants the next year and hit .165 for that club in 1924. In 1926, he batted .103 for the Baltimore Black Sox. He then bounced around for several years, settling in as a starter for the Birmingham Black Barons in 1929 and hitting .185. He concluded his career with the 1931 Brooklyn Royal Giants.

Fiall was a member of the Renaissance Five basketball team which was admitted as a unit to the Basketball Hall of Fame. He and basketball teammate Fats Jenkins were dubbed the "Heavenly Twins".

Fiall died at age 35 of pneumonia.
