Biographical Information[edit]
Geon-tae Kim has pitched in the Korea Baseball Organization and for the South Korea national baseball team.
Kim was drafted by the Nexen Heroes in the first round of the 2010 KBO draft, and he had a 9.39 ERA in 5 games in 2010. He then missed most of the next two seasons after undergoing Tommy John surgery, and he spent the 2013 and 2014 seasons in the military. Kim also represented Korea in the 2013 East Asian Games and won a Silver medal. He had a 7.04 ERA in 13 games in 2015 after returning, then his ERA was 5.26 in 34 games in 2016. Kim only pitched 5 games with the big club in 2017, and the NC Dinos selected him in the second draft. He was 2-3 with a 5.43 ERA in 2018, and he notched 7 holds with a 3.68 ERA in 44 games in 2019. Kim's ERA rose to 4.89 in 33 games in 2020, and he only pitched 6 games in 2021. He had a 4.42 ERA in 16 relief outings in 2022, then he announced his retirement.
Overall, Kim was 5-13 with a 5.20 ERA, struck out 185 and pitched 266 2/3 innings in 10 seasons in the KBO.
