Only existing for one year, the Geneva Twins were 39-29 in 1973, finishing 4th of 8 teams in the New York-Penn League that season. Managed by Fred Waters, they drew 18,769 fans, also 4th. They outscored the opposition 355-319 and did not have any All-Stars. OF Al Woods (.302/~.404/.422) and Gary Ward (.270/~.391/.483) paced the offense and went on to the best careers from the club. Ward's 10 homers were two shy of the league lead. The true star, though, was pitcher Mike Van DeCasteele, who went 9-1 and led the league with a miniscule 0.72 ERA and with 3 shutouts. He did allow a 2.16 RA, but his ERA was the lowest mark in the league between (at least) 1946 and 1987; in 1988, Dan Freed finally managed to go lower.
