Biographical Information[edit]

Gene Verble played two years in the majors along with 14 seasons in the minors. He also managed six years in the minors.

Originally from North Carolina, most of Verble's minor league career was in the South. He played four years for the Atlanta Crackers, three for the Chattanooga Lookouts and four for the Charlotte Hornets. He also managed Charlotte for four seasons.

At the major league level most of his at-bats were with the Washington Senators in 1951, where he played middle infield and backed up Pete Runnels, who was also 23 at the time.
