Biographical Information[edit]

Gene McCann pitched in the majors for two years with the Brooklyn Superbas. His career is also tied up with the Jersey City Skeeters, as he pitched for them for several years and also was their manager. This site [1] has a paragraph on his life, indicating that he was an impeccable dresser whose trademark was a white tie.

After managing in the minors, he spent many years as a New York Yankees scout.

Gene was a key part of two of the top 100 minor league teams of all time (as chosen at milb.com): (1) the 1903 Skeeters, who went 92-33 in part because Gene was 26-11 for them; (2) the 1916 New London Planters, who were 86-34 under Gene McCann as manager.
