Biographical Information[edit]
Jack Calhoun, also called "Red", was in twenty games with the 1902 St. Louis Cardinals at the age of 22. In his very first game, against the 1902 Chicago Orphans, he got two hits while batting sixth in the lineup. He went on to have a couple other two-hit games.
Jack had at least 15 seasons in the minors. His teams were always in the northeastern part of the country, with seven years spent in the New York State League. He also managed ten seasons in the minors.
A site claims he got into a fight with a player from another team in 1917, and neither appeared in organized ball thereafter. [1]
He was the first Calhoun in the majors. His minor league career overlapped some with the second Calhoun, Bill Calhoun.
