Biographical Information[edit]

Gary Moore played for the Los Angeles Dodgers in May of 1970. Two of his three hits were triples and he stole a base.

Moore was at the University of Texas at the same time as Joe Hague. During his years in the Dodgers organization he pitched four times, but mostly played first base and outfield. In 1970 he hit .328 in 104 games for the Albuquerque Dodgers, adding 7 triples and 12 home runs. His teammates at Albuquerque that year included Steve Yeager (.278), Ron Cey (.331), Joe Ferguson (.305), Bob Gallagher (.336) and Doyle Alexander (3.15 ERA). In 1969 with Albuquerque his teammates included Steve Garvey and Bill Buckner, and Moore led the team in at-bats and hits as Garvey and Buckner both spent part of the season elsewhere.

He was a busy guy in high school. He was All-State in football and baseball, and was also a varsity basketball player. However, on top of that, he was a drummer (in band and orchestra) and performed during half-times. He was a left-handed pitcher in high school but a right-handed quarterback. He became an outfielder in pro ball because he wanted to play every day. Source: [1]

Moore came to the majors at the time when TV host Garry Moore was hosting To Tell the Truth on television.
