Biographical Information[edit]
Fumio Kitsugi has played in Nippon Pro Baseball.
Kitsugi was on the Japanese national team in the 1959 Asian Championship as the country won its second title. The Yomiuri Giants signed him in 1960. However, since they had superstar Sadaharu Oh, Kitsugi didn't get many chances. He only hit .087/.087/.174 in his rookie year, then recorded a poor .130/.222/.174 batting line before the Giants released him in 1961.[1] The Kokutetsu Swallows picked him up in 1962. Although he won the batting title in the minor Eastern League, he still announced his retirement after he went 0-for-8 with the big club in the 1962 season. [2]
Overall, Kitsugi had hit .093/.138/.148 in 3 seasons in NPB.
