Biographical Information[edit]
Frank Cruz has been a college coach.
Cruz was head coach of University High School, going 152-68. He was assistant coach at the University of Southern California from 1993-1996. From 1997-2008, he was head coach of Loyola Marymount University. He was 329-356-3 at LMU and led his team to the West Coast Conference titles in 1998, 1999 and 2000. While there, he coached C.J. Wilson, Josh Whitesell, Jeff Stevens, Chris Pettit, Brian Barton, Jack Cassel and Mike Schultz, all future major leaguers.
Cruz was assistant coach for the 2000 US amateur team then guided the US to Gold in the 2004 World University Championship. He was named the IBAF International Coach of the Year for 2004 for his efforts. In 2009-2010, Cruz was back at USC as an assistant coach. He was promoted in 2011, replacing Chad Kreuter. Cruz was fired just prior to the 2013 season due to rules violations [1].
