Biographical Information[edit]
Francisco Calderón has been on the Ecuadorian national team.
At West Virginia Tech, he hit .215/.261/.323 in 2021 then improved to .364/.451/.644 in 2022. He was named All-River States Conference at DH. [1] He slipped to .326/.371/.553 in 2023 but rebounded to .357/.405/.626 as a senior.
With Ecuador in the 2024 South American Championship, he was their main first baseman. He debuted against Chile, he was retired by Emilio Germann-Cisterna his first time up. For the event, he was 1-for-8 with four walks and a RBI in four games, handling 27 chances without an error. His lone hit was off Brazil's Paulo Nóris. He tied Pedro Okuda, Osvaldo Carvalho and Joaquín Vélez for 4th in the tourney in walks and was 7th in putouts (23, between Susumu Yoza and Luis Atocha. [2]
