Biographical Information[edit]

Filippo Agretti has played in Serie A1 and for the Italian national team.

He debuted in 2016, hitting .188/.297/.208 and fielding .922 for Novara. The infielder moved to Bologna in '17 and was 0 for 4 with a walk and 3 runs in the 2017 European Champions Cup. [1] He improved to .306/.416/.400 in the 2017 Italian Baseball League, driving in 19 in 27 games. He was Bologna's DH in the 2018 European Champions Cup, producing at a .385/.429/.538 clip. [2] He was at .328/.473/.466 in the 2018 Serie A1. In the 2018 Italian Series, he was a bench player, drawing a walk and scoring a run as Bologna won. [3]

During the 2019 European Champions Cup, he backed up Alessandro Vaglio at 2B and Eladio Russo at DH, going 1 for 7 with two walks, a run and a RBI while handling 3 putouts and 4 assists for the champs. [4] He had an off-season at .159/.255/.227 in the 2019 Serie A1. Bologna again won the Italian Series; he was 3 for 7 with two RBI. His two-run single off Alessandro Maestri began the winning comeback in Game 2 against San Marino. [5]

His batting line in 2020 was .244/.388/.282, while he fielded .958 and scored 21 runs in 28 games. He tied Sebastiano Poma and Luca Pulzetti for 6th in the league in walks. He was 1 for 7 with a run and two RBI in the 2020 Italian Series as Bologna completed a three-peat. [6] In the 2021 European Champions Cup (the event was not held in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic), he hit .313/.450/.621 with four runs and five RBI in four games while playing 2B, 3B and DH. He had a four-RBI game against Neptunus. [7]

In the 2021 Serie A1, he hit .344/.455/.581 with 39 runs and 25 RBI, tying Luca Martone and Andrea Sellaroli for 3rd in runs. [8] In the 2021 Italian Series, he was 1 for 6 with a walk, double, two runs and a RBI; he scored the tying run in the 9th inning of Game 1 as a pinch-runner but Bologna lost the game and the Series to San Marino to end their title run. He played for Italy in the 2021 European Championship, backing up Leo Ferrini at 3B and Mattia Mercuri at 2B. He debuted as a late in a win over Greece, taking over second when Mercuri moved to short as Erick Epifano exited. He did not get to bat or handle a chance in the field. His next game was in the semifinals versus Israel, when he pinch-hit for Mercuri in the 9th and grounded out against Ty Kelly. In the Bronze Medal Game, he started at third and hit 9th as Ferrini went to the bench. He was retired by Elián Leyva twice and Fernando Baez once in a 2-0 win over Spain, handling four chances error-free at the hot corner. [10]
