Biographical Information[edit]
Eui-sik Kong played in the Korea Baseball Organization for 3 years.
Kong played for the South Korean national team in the 1990 Baseball World Cup, going 2 for 15 with a double, walk and two RBI. He played 15 innings in left, backing up Sang-soo Kim, but did not handle a single chance. He remained with South Korea for the 1991 Asian Championship and 1991 Intercontinental Cup. In the latter event, he batted .200/.316/.400, backing up Sung-bo Shim in right. He went deep off the USSR's Vitally Romanov.
The Pacific Dolphins selected him in the second round of the 1993 KBO draft, and he hit .168/.302/.344 in 61 games in his first season. Kong spent the next two seasons in the minor league, and he recorded a .217/.313/.391 batting line in 1996. He was then traded with Young-soo Kang to the Ssangbangwool Raiders for Kwang-rim Kim, and he hit .202/.307/.353 in 1997. Kong announced his retirement after the 1997 season, and he later coached Choongam High School (2002), Hanzhong University and U1 University (2018-2024).
Overall, Kong hit ..191/.305/.357 with 60 hits and 12 homers in 3 seasons in the KBO.
