[1] He had a save and a 4 2/3 shutout innings in the COVID-19-shortened 2020 season as a freshman at Wake Forest. He was 1-3 with 6 saves and a 2.00 ERA in 2021, tying for 6th in the Atlantic Coast Conference in saves.
That summer, he went 2-0 with 7 saves and a 1.15 ERA for the Bourne Braves, striking out 29 and allowing 6 hits in 15 2/3 innings. He led the Cape Cod League in saves, one ahead of Dale Stanavich. He fell to 0-1, 8.86 with four saves in a rough 2022 summer campaign. The Chicago White Sox still took him in the 6th round of the 2022 amateur draft and signed him for a $200,000 bonus. The scout was John Stott. [2]
He split his first pro summer between the ACL White Sox (1 R in 1 1/3 IP) and Kannapolis Cannon Ballers (2 R in 3 1/3 IP). In '23, he pitched for Kannapolis (2 Sv, 3.18 in 12 G) and the Winston-Salem Dash (2-0, 3 Sv, 2.70 in 16 G), missing time due to injury. [3] He kept moving up in 2024, making appearances for the Dash (1-0, 5 Sv, 0 R in 9 IP) and the Birmingham Barons (2-2, 8 Sv, 4.06 in 32 G). He tied Deivi García for 6th in the ChiSox chain in appearances (40) and tied Adisyn Coffey for the most saves.
That won him a spot on the US squad for the 2024 Premier 12. He made three appearances for the Bronze Medal winners. Debuting against Venezuela, he relieved Cam Vieaux in the 6th of a 2-2 contest. Carlos Pérez greeted him with a Ramón Flores drew a four-pitch walk. Jermaine Palacios bunted the runners over, then Herlis Rodríguez singled in a run. Diego Castillo laid down a bunt and US catcher Willie MacIver fired to second but Carson Williams was charged with a run-scoring error for not covering the bag. Angel Reyes bunted in a run for a 5-2 lead and Francisco Arcia walked before Adler got the other Carlos Pérez to end the inning. Austin Drury succeeded him. He allowed a run in an inning in a second game against Venezuela then finished his tournament with his best outing, retiring 3 of 4 against champion Taiwan. [4]
