Biographical Information[edit]
Shortstop Carson Williams was selected by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 1st round of the 2021 amateur draft with the 28th overall pick, out of Torrey Pines High School in his hometown of San Diego, CA. He started his professional career that same year by hitting .282 in 11 games for the FCL Rays.
In 2022, he spent a full season with the Charleston RiverDogs of the Carolina League, hitting .252/.347/.471 in 113 games. He had 22 doubles, 10 triples and 19 homers, scored 81 runs, drove in 70, stole 28 bases and won a Gold Glove in an excellent all-around performance that resulted in his being named a league All-Star and a Ray organizational All-Star. In 2023, he played at three levels, starting with the Bowling Green Hot Rods of the South Atlantic League before stopping for a week each with the AA Montgomery Biscuits and AAA Durham Bulls. In 110 games, he hit .258/.356/.456, with 21 doubles, 7 triples and 23 homers. he also scored 76 runs while driving in 81, and stole 20 bases. He repeated as an organizational All-Star, and also played in the Arizona Fall League after the season, making it to the Rising Stars Game.
He was a non-roster invitee in spring training with the Rays in 2024.
