Biographical Information[edit]

En-Sih Huang played in the CPBL for 10 years.

Huang was drafted by the Uni-President Lions in the fifth round of the 2010 CPBL draft, and he spent his rookie seasons in the CPBL minor league.[1] He hit .345/.417/.473 with a league-leading 76 hits and 20 doubles in minors in 2011, but he only hit .224/.306/.265 in 2012. Huang hit .235/.295/.314 in 2013, and he was 0-for-2 in the 2013 Taiwan Series. The Lions swept the EDA Rhinos, and Huang won his only Taiwan Series title.

The Hualien native played a career-high 99 games in 2014, and he recorded a .226/.276/.278 batting line. He was also selected into the 2014 CPBL All-Star Game, and he was 0-for-3. Huang slumped to .228/.303/.297 in 2015, then he improved to .312/.345/.403 in 2016. However, when talented shortstop Chieh-Hsien Chen joined the team, his spot was taken after he had a 4-for-36 batting record in 2017.[2]

Huang had a .220/.276/.276 line in 2018, and he played 77 games while hitting .251/.312/.353 in 2019; he got more opportunities because Chen faced defensive problems. When Tzu-Chieh Lin shined in 2020, Huang was placed in the minor league, where he stayed in the next two seasons. He faced a different En-Sih Huang in 2020, and he became the first player to hit against a pitcher who had the same name in CPBL history. Huang only played 8 games combined in the next two seasons, and he announced his retirement after the 2021 season.

Overall, Huang hit .237/.296/.305 with 275 hits in 10 seasons in CPBL.
