Emmanuel Motoni pitched for the Nigerian national team that won the Silver Medal at the 1999 All Africa Games. He closed out a 19-1 loss to champion South Africa, relieving Sunday Twaki and allowing no hits, 3 walks and one earned run in 1 1/3 IP, fanning three. He replaced Kayode Olliayo in the 3rd against Lesotho and finished up the game (5 2/3 IP, 3 H, 2 BB, 16 K, 1 BB) for the win. He relieved Twaki in the 4th inning versus Ghana and again wrapped it up (3 2/3 IP, 3 H, 0 BB, 1 ER, 7 K) in a 14-5 win; he again got the decision. He led Nigeria with two wins and tied Justice Tsuniyane and Nhauro Mpanguri for the tournament lead in victories. He led Nigeria in IP (by 3 2/3) and strikeouts (11 ahead of Augustine Gabriel) as well.
