Augustine Gabriel
Augustine Gabriel started the first game for the Nigerian national team in the 1999 All Africa Games. He went two innings and allowed one hit, four walks and 8 runs (3 earned) while fanning four before Michael Oguwuche relieved. Nigeria rallied for a 12-11 win over Zimbabwe. Gabriel also started their second game and did much better, holding last-place Uganda to one hit (by Paul Kazibwe), three walks and one run (earned) while whiffing 11 in five innings. It was a complete game as Nigeria won a 27-1 mercy rule rout. Nigeria finished with the Silver Medal. For the event, he was eleven behind Emmanuel Motoni for the team lead in strikeouts.
