Michael Oguwuche
Michael Oguwuche was a star player for the Nigerian national team in the only two All Africa Games to feature baseball (through 2016). In the 1999 All Africa Games, he had 3 hits and 2 RBI in their opening win over Zimbabwe. With Nigeria down 8-0 after two innings, he relieved Augustine Gabriel, moving over from DH. He pitched the next seven frames, allowing 7 hits, walking none and fanning seven while allowing 3 runs (1 earned) as Nigeria rallied for a 12-11 win. He did not pitch again in the Games, but remained the DH, usually hitting 5th. He hit .333/?/.500 with 3 RBI and four steals. He was second on the team in steals, one behind Adedeji Adekunli, and had the best ERA of any Nigerian pitcher to work 3+ innings as Nigeria won the Silver Medal. While several other teams had two-way players, Oguwuche was the only one on the Nigerian team. In the 2003 All Africa Games, he led the tourney in both RBI and ERA in another stellar two-way display; Nigeria again won the Silver.
