Eloy Gutierrez played in the minor leagues and for the Mexico national team.
Gutierrez represented Mexico in the 2003 Baseball World Cup. Starting in right field for them, the teenager hit .273/.333/.407 with 5 RBI in 7 games. He was second on their squad in RBI, two shy of Edgar Quintero. He began his professional career with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2005, and he hit .269/.371/.345 for the GCL Dodgers in his first season. Gutierrez recorded a .262/.368/.369 batting line in the GCL in 2006, but he struggled with the Vero Beach Dodgers as his batting line was .217/.317/.275. He then went 1-for-6 with the Ogden Raptors in 2007, and he left the Dodgers system. Gutierrez crushed 5 homers with a .199/.272/.357 batting line for the Piratas de Campeche in 2008, and he went 1-for-8 with the Tomateros de Culiacan in the winter.
The Guasave native improved to .309/.401/.428 with 9 homers for the Guerreros de Oaxaca in 2009, and he hit .304/.387/.423 with 16 steals in 2010. His 9 triples tied Donzell McDonald and Chris Roberson for the Mexican League lead. Gutierrez struggled in the winter as he hit .206/.342/.294, and he slumped to .226/.333/.290 in 2011. He then played 37 games with a .298/.365/.532 batting line in the winter, and he batted .244/.277/.456 for Oaxaca in 2012 while having a 5-for-24 record with the Diablos Rojos del Mexico. Gutierrez was 3-for-19 with the Tomateros in the winter, and he went 7-for-32 with the Naranjeros de Hermosillo. He then hit .263/.328/.316 in 37 games for the 2013 Petroleros de Minatitlan, and he was 8-for-25 with the Diablos. Gutierrez also had a 2-for-10 record with the Rieleros de Aguascalientes, and he was hitless in 7 at-bats for the Algodoneros de Guasave. He crushed 6 homers with a .289/.340/.408 batting line in 2014, and he played 47 games with a .306/.404/.469 batting line in 2015. He only had 12 appearances for the Vaqueros Laguna in 2016, and his professional career ended.
