Biographical Information[edit]
Eligio Kelly pitched in the Hoofdklasse and for the Dutch national team, as did his son Kevin Kelly.
Eloigio Kelly started with the Groot Kwartier Stars in Curaçao as a second baseman then became a pitcher at age 15. His fastball was timed at 96 mph. Marco Stoovelaar's obituary lists him with the 1976-1977 Newark Co-Pilots but he does not show up on the B-R Register for either year. He played for Quick Amersfoort in the Hoofdklasse starting in 1978 (going 3-0). He made the Netherlands squad for the 1978 Haarlem Baseball Week and 1978 Amateur World Series. In the latter event, he was 1-0 with a 1.08 ERA; only Bertil Haage had a better ERA or more wins for the Netherlands.
He moved to Sparta in 1979 and fell to 0-4. He returned to Curaçao in 1980.
