Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Eduard Bazardo made his major league debut for the Boston Red Sox on April 14, 2021, pitching one scoreless inning in the second game of a doubleheader against the Minnesota Twins. He had been the 27th man called up by the Red Sox for the doubleheader and was sent back down immediately after the game. The twinbill was a result of Minnesota cancelling the game of April 12th because of civil unrest following the shooting death by a policewoman of a black motorist in the suburb of Brooklyn Center, MN a day earlier.

Bazardo was originally signed by Boston as an international free agent on September 4, 2014. He was a Carolina League All-Star in 2019 and also an MiLB organizational All-Star when he went 1-1, 1.76 in 17 games as a reliever with the Salem Red Sox before being promoted to the Portland Sea Dogs, where his ERA was 2.78 in 21 games.

On November 20, 2020, he was added to Boston's 40-man roster. Bazardo was assigned to the team's alternate training site prior to the start of the 2021 season. Following his debut, on May 12th, Bazardo was again recalled for one day and pitched two scoreless innings. On July 5th, he was placed on the 60-day injured list with a right lat strain. He was sent on a rehabilitation assignment with the FCL Red Sox on August 13th.

He is the younger brother of Yorman Bazardo.
