Eddie De La Cruz pitched for 10 seasons in the minors but never got past A ball.

De La Cruz was 8-3 with a 1.88 ERA for the 2001 DSL Devil Rays, fanning 129 but walking 49 in 91 IP; he allowed just 58 hits. He was on the restricted list in 2002. He made his US debut with the 2003 Princeton Devil Rays, going 1-3 with a 5.66 ERA and walking 13 in 20 2/3 IP. He had a 3-6, 3.91 record with one save for the 2004 Hudson Valley Renegades. He tied Raymar Diaz for 4th in the New York-Penn League in walks (31), tied for 5th in losses, was 5th with 8 hit batsmen and tied for 5th with 8 wild pitches. With the 2005 Southwest Michigan Devil Rays, he had a 6-5, 5.91 record, issuing 63 walks in 88 1/3 IP. He tied Casey Abrams, Luis Cota and Brandon Mann for 5th in the Midwest League in walks.

Still with Southwest Michigan in 2006, he was now a full-time reliever, going 2-3 with two saves and a 4.65 ERA, striking out 64 in 62 IP and walking 39. He was 5-6 with 8 saves and a 3.98 ERA in 45 games for the 2007 Vero Beach Devil Rays, walking 36 in 54 1/3 IP. He tied Kevin Roberts for 7th in the Florida State League in games pitched and tied another, Kevin Lynn, for 7th in the Rays chain in appearances. He pitched for the Tigres del Licey in the 2008 Caribbean Series.

Moving to the independent leagues, he was 0-2 with 3 saves and a 8.36 ERA for the 2008 Reno Silver Sox. In 2010, he moved to the Sioux City Explorers, going 5-2 with 9 saves and a 2.77 ERA in 53 games; he walked only 20 in 65 IP while fanning 65. He was second in the American Association in appearances, one behind Dustin Pease and tied for 8th in saves. He was 6-7 with 9 saves and a 4.46 ERA for the 2011 Explorers. He tied Kyle Foster for 4th in the AA in games pitched and tied for 10th in saves. He tied for 8th with 9 hit batsmen. He faded for the 2012 Explorers (2-2, Sv, 6.23 in 35 G) and then did not pitch in 2013.
