Biographical Information[edit]
Durin O'Linger pitched for Davidson College from 2013-2017. In his first two seasons he worked as a relief pitcher before working mostly as a starter his last two seasons. O'Linger was redshirted in 2015. Following his college playing career, he pitched in the Boston Red Sox chain from 2017-2018, with a record of 8-5, 3.40 ERA, and 1 save in 36 games (10 starts). He then went into coaching.
According to his LinkedIn account, O'Linger was scheduled to serve as the development coach for the AZL Dodgers in 2020 before COVID-19 forced the cancellation of the minor league season. This could not be confirmed by other sources. He was assistant pitching coach with the Great Lakes Loons in 2021 and pitching coach of the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes in 2022 and Tulsa Drillers in 2023. In the latter year he teamed with pitching coach Ryan Dennick to lead the Tulsa pitching staff to the lowest ERA in the minors over the first two months of the season. Starting pitchers at the time included Emmet Sheehan, Landon Knack, Nick Frasso, Kyle Hurt and River Ryan. All five finished the year pitching at higher levels, with Sheehan and Hurt making their major league debuts. Both O'Linger and Dennick returned to Tulsa in 2024.
