Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Kyle Hurt played for former major leaguer Kirk McCaskill in high school. Both his father and grandfather played college football, while the latter played one year in the NFL. He was first drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 34th round of the 2017 amateur draft coming out of high school, and again by the Miami Marlins in the 5th round of the 2020 amateur draft, out of the University of Southern California.

He never played in the Marlins system since the 2020 minor league season was wiped out by the COVID-19 pandemic and on February 21, 2021, he was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers alongside P Alex Vesia in return for Dylan Floro. He made his major league debut with the Dodgers on September 12, 2023, pitching 2 hitless innings in relief to close out a 12-2 win over the San Diego Padres. He concluded his impressive first outing by striking out the side in the 9th inning.
