Biographical Information[edit]
Duncan Izaaks has played in the Bundesliga and for the New Zealand national team.
Born in South Africa, he moved to New Zealand as a youth. He was 0 for 4 for New Zealand in the 2014 U-21 Baseball World Cup, handling ten chances error-free as their backup shortstop. [1] He signed with Germany's Ulm Falcons for 2018 (their first year in Germany's top league) and hit .308/.509/.462 with 27 walks in 26 games, fielding .948 and going 0-6 with a 5.71 ERA. He was second in the southern Bundesliga-1 in walks (5 behind Austin Gallagher), was 5th in OBP, tied for 5th in steals (8), was second in fielding at 2B (.979, .008 behind Simon Liedtke), tied for second in losses and tied for second with nine hit batsmen. He was 0 for 3 with four walks for the Auckland Tuatara in the 2018-2019 Australian Baseball League. He played one game for New Zealand in the 2022 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers. Pinch-running for Jason Matthews in the 8th against Brazil, he scored on a Chayton Krauss double. He stayed in at short and drew a ninth-inning walk from Igor Kimura but New Zealand lost and he did not play in their other contest. [3]
