Biographical Information[edit]

Drew Parrish has pitched in the minors and been on Team USA.

Parrish was 6-3 with a 4.52 ERA as a college freshman, fanning 93 and walking 29 in 91 1/3 innings. He was 8th in the Atlantic Coast Conference in Ks; the team made the 2017 College World Series. In 2018, he improved to 5-1, 2.52 with 128 K in 107 IP and a .186 opponent average. He was two K behind ACC leader Griffin Roberts and just missed the NCAA Division I top-10; he was 64th in Division I in ERA. [1] He was All-ACC. He spent the summer with the US collegiate team, which played against Taiwan, Japan and Cuba. [2]

As a junior, he fell to 9-5, 4.67 and fanned 125 more;. he pitched eight shutout innings in the 2019 College World Series opener to beat the University of Arkansas and Isaiah Campbell. The last FSU hurler with back-to-back 100+ K seasons had been Sean Gilmartin in 2010-2011. [3] He tied for 3rd in the ACC in wins and was 3rd in strikeouts, 42 behind Reid Detmers. The Kansas City Royals selected him in the 8th round of the 2019 amateur draft. The scout was Jim Buckley. [4]

He had a strong pro debut with the Burlington Royals, striking out 39 in 25 innings with a .92 WHIP, 2.52 ERA and 3-0 record. The 2020 minor league season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, he began superb with the Quad Cities River Bandits (1-0, Sv, 5 H, 3 BB, 23 K, 0 R in 15 2/3 IP). That earned him a spot on Team USA for the 2021 Americas Olympic Qualifier. [5]
