Doug Thurman has been a coach and scout.
Thurman was a pitcher in college. He was an assistant coach at Sacramento State (1992), San Jose City College (1993-1994) and Archbishop Mitty High School (1995) and has worked for the Czech national team. He then was a longtime assistant coach at San Jose State University (1996-2006). In 2003, he was the school's interim head coach when Sam Piraro was on medical leave. He was pitching coach for Brad Kilby and Jason Jimenez in college. He left San Jose State to become a New York Mets scout. He signed Josh Satin, Evan LeBlanc, Danny Muno, Sean Ratliff and Chris Schwinden.
