Doug Stokke was the All-Tournament shortstop in the 1978 College World Series as his USC team won the national title. The Houston Astros took him in the 5th round of the 1978 amateur draft. He split the remainder of the summer between the Daytona Beach Astros (.284/.350/.404) and the Charleston Charlies (1 for 6). In 1979, Doug played for the Columbus Astros. Fielding .957 at short, he hit .258/.287/.372 with 10 home runs. He led the Southern League in sacrifice flies (11) and shortstop fielding percentage. Stokke ended his career in 1980 with Columbus (.289/.327/.411 in 69 G) and the Tucson Toros (.256/.277/.308 in 23 G).
